The Retreat is the residential part of the Blue Lagoon on the Reykjanes peninsula: a hotel set into an 800-year-old lava field, with a private lagoon of the same mineral-rich geothermal seawater and a spa built around silica, algae and mineral treatments.
Note that this is a volcanically active area; the operator suspends access when local authorities require it.
